Tracy Alva Lawder proves M.S. can't slow down this woman on the move
As a child, Lawder was active - a runner, swimmer and twirler who worked as a lifeguard.
"I considered myself a good athlete, always on the move and always going," the 43-year-old township resident said.
Today Lawder is one of more than 10,000 people within the area living with multiple sclerosis, a debilitating disease affecting the central nervous system.
Diagnosed eight years ago, Lawder's ebbs and flows led to her to join the national MS Society's New Jersey Metro Chapter and now to launch of Tracy Alva's Mission for Multiple Sclerosis, her own nonprofit to help raise funds for awareness, research and treatment as well as scholarships for children with the disease.
