National Multiple Sclerosis Society Opens Registration for 2010 Triangle Walk MS Over 5,000 Triangle Residents Expected for 2010 Walk MS

RALEIGH, N.C. (October 14, 2009) - The Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is excited to open registration for the 2010 Triangle Walk MS on Saturday, April 24th at the RBC Center in Raleigh. Walk MS, an annual fundraiser for over 20 years, is an opportunity for the community to support the estimated 4,800 individuals who are living with multiple sclerosis in eastern North Carolina. Triangle Walk MS will help achieve this year’s overall fundraising goal of $800,000.

In 2009, over 5,000 participants raised $752,935 throughout eastern NC in support of the cause. “It’s inspiring to see the community come together to bring help and hope to those living with MS,” said Elizabeth Jones, Walk MS coordinator.

Sixty percent of all the funds raised will go toward programs, services and advocacy for people living with MS in eastern North Carolina, and 40 percent supports national research to find the cause and cure of MS.

The 2010 Triangle Walk MS has an independent site for creating and joining teams, registering and donating online. The site can be accessed through http://walknct.nationalmssociety.org.
