Steering their own course: Couple with MS to speak at disability fair

(Does anybody know this couple?)

A Mount Pleasant husband and wife who both have multiple sclerosis will share their story of love and self-determination at a disability awareness fair Saturday at Central Michigan University.

Dan and Jennifer Digmann will be lead-off speakers for the 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. event at CMU's Finch Fieldhouse. Admission is free and open to the public. CMU's Accessibility and Disability Advisory Committee is sponsoring the event, purposefully scheduled for October, which is Disability Awareness Month.
The two met in 2002 at an MS workshop. Organizers had forgotten to mention that the event was for women only and, when men began asking to come, they asked Dan to take part and give the male perspective. When he arrived, an organizer suggested he sit at Jennifer's table. Jennifer immediately decided Dan was "adorable." And when Jennifer rolled up to the table in her wheelchair, Dan recalled, the word that instantly came to his mind was "Wow!" That was the beginning of a lifelong commitment between them; they were married in 2005.
