Neuroscience Centers of Florida Foundation, Inc. (NSCFF) has added a FREE service, for the MS community

written: January 6, 2014

Neuroscience Centers of Florida Foundation, Inc. (NSCFF) is pleased to announce the addition of a new member to our team – Jennifer Falk, MSW, CPHM. In keeping with our mission of addressing the supportive needs of patients, families and caretakers impacted by Multiple Sclerosis, NSCFF sought out a Master level Social Worker with an extensive background in coordinating care within our community for patients, families and caregivers:

NSCFF is the first organization to provide a full-time social worker in Miami-Dade County dedicated specifically to working with the Multiple Sclerosis population. As an advocate for the MS community Jennifer is focused on empowering patients by bridging the gap between those affected by MS and local organizations and services that are available.

Further, Jennifer is currently conducting a Quality of Life Study, looking at the impact that supportive services can have on the quality of life of the MS patient. This is a great opportunity for people living with MS in South Florida to get involved and help bring attention to a great cause.  There are many benefits to being part of the study, we encourage you to enroll!

Resources that the NSCFF  MS Social Worker can connect you to are assistance with general coordination of care, hosting support groups, educational programs and opportunities, workshops, assisting with referrals to supportive services, helping obtain equipment and supportive counseling for the MS patient, families and caretakers.

NSCFF is able to offer Jennifer’s services and expertise free of charge to the community.

We invite all within the MS community to contact Jennifer at jfalk.nscff@gmail.com or (305)-856-8940, ext. 104.

Jennifer’s Statement:
“Social workers help weave all the threads that are important to sustaining the strong resilience of those living with MS. As the NSCFF Social Work Programs Coordinator, I am honored to be able to direct my knowledge, skills, and expertise to address the psychosocial needs within the MS community.

“NSCFF embraces the idea of promoting health, independence, empowerment and strength to those living with Multiple Sclerosis and their families. We embrace a patient centered interdisciplinary approach to care, looking at the MS patients, their families, and caregivers as a whole.

“I believe in patient advocacy and education. Through social work interventions coordination of quality care services will continue our patients’ path to independence, empowerment, and better quality of life.”
