I can't help but wonder what kind of info could be collected if venous studies were done in the Upright MRI. When the CSF pressure is too high, as it was in my case, it affects all the systems (including blood flow) in the brain. I suppose the lack of blood flow would result in sediment deposits forming...iron for instance. Wouldn't it be great if all the research could be pooled?GraceMShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13572831939755580598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8010368813638032407.post-82600986780487388822013-01-14T22:20:52.318-05:002013-01-14T22:20:52.318-05:00After going to your web site, I felt you should be...After going to your web site, I felt you should be apprised of this study and work being done by Dr. Damadian, Dr. Chu and also Dr. Rosa. I see a real conflict with scientists looking for a pharmaceutical approach to deal with MS as the profitability is a big factor in funding research on MS, but I am suggesting that both areas should be considered in a complimentary vision. I am speaking from the point of view of someone with the disease who has had notable improvement being in the secondary progressive stage of this disease. It would be so wonderful if research could focus on addressing the ravages of this disease to speed the healing process once the CSF flow is unblocked, CSF pressure is returned to normal and the CSF leakage is abated.GraceMShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13572831939755580598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8010368813638032407.post-67691353634683467832013-01-14T22:18:35.783-05:002013-01-14T22:18:35.783-05:00I have already seen some results. My eyesight was another problem that I was having issues with...I had given up driving because of kaleidoscope vision when I turned my head. My vision is back and I am driving again. I am getting some feeling back in my fingertips (can put earrings in by myself)....which had been numb for years. Also, I am starting to have some feeling in my abdomen. I have been numb through my abdomen for many years. The real test is to get my balance and ability to walk back. I am more optimistic than I have been in so many years. Dr. Damadian paid for our room in New York while we were there and there was no charge for the unbelievable number of "advanced dynamic" scans done of my friend and me....and I felt so privileged to get the opportunity to be part of his study.

Let me just say that this is very early in this study...and it is breakthrough stuff. Dr. Damadian and Dr. Rosa think if you open up the flow of CSF in the cervical spine area, you stop the leakage in the brain. If you stop the leakage, you stop the disease and the brain heals itself. CSF is made up of water and many proteins, nine of which are involved in attracting the antibodies damaging the myelin. Current accepted science believes MS is caused by some mysterious virus which nobody has identified yet and that the body in fighting that virus, is attacking the myelin lining on the nerves. Drugs now available to treat MS are immune suppressants, an attempt to block the antibodies damaging the myelin coating on the nerves. Currently, the motivation is to address the ravages of the disease by using immune suppressants. What else can you do when you can't identify the actual cause? I am hopeful that Dr. Damadian has identified the cause....and MS can be cured, not just treated
GraceMShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13572831939755580598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8010368813638032407.post-29651897974036947352013-01-14T22:16:42.196-05:002013-01-14T22:16:42.196-05:00I just got back from New York on Thursday, March 1...I just got back from New York on Thursday, March 1st. Dr. Damadian along with Dr. Larry Minkoff (the first human ever to be scanned by an MRI) spent many hours directing the scans on my friend and me...I had about 10 hours myself in the scanner all together. They both analyzed the results. We both had blockages of CSF flow through the cervical spine area and showed leakage around our ventricles in the brain. Mine showed all four ventricles had leakage. I also found out I had scoliosis in the neck and lumbar spine. It was so cool to watch the most leading research scientists in the world consulting for hours over our images. We then went to be treated by Dr. Scott Rosa in Rock Hill, NY. That was just as incredible. Dr. Damadian came with us...about 3 hours away and Dr. Rosa was just as brilliant as the other two doctors. He did his adjustments on my friend and me using an atlas orthogonal device...and I felt nothing! This was the most non invasive procedure known to man. We then were re scanned by Fonar and my neck was in perfect alignment, opening the CSF flow. (My atlas disk was diagonal and rotated and my C2 was rotated before the procedure. After... everything was perfect.) Now, I am going to keep a journal on how the healing goes. They expect the process to take about a year. We will be going for periodic adjustments here in Denver to a chiropractor under Dr. Rosa's direction, Dr. Stephen Schuster, to make sure we stay in alignment. Dr. Damadian and the other doctors are pretty sure that Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, even ALS are related to this same issue. I'll let you know how it goes. He recently developed new hardware and software which he was using in an Upright MRI to study CSF flow. (Take note that he was able to develop the Upright MRI with the proceeds from the patent infringement litigation.) It was while doing MRI scans of a woman with MS that he discovered she had normal CSF pressure in the brain in the recumbent position... but it more than doubled in the upright position. Further scans showed blockage of CSF flow in the cervical spine area and actual leakage of CSF in the brain. (Doing flexation and extension cine motion of this patient actually showed leakage as it occurred.) Dr. Damadian then requested another seven random patients with MS to be scanned. Results are included in his Study and can be accessed and downloaded at "fonar.com".

What was it that made me think he was on the right track? My first episode that was meaningful enough to get me to go see a doctor was in 1988. I turned my head to back out of my driveway and experienced kaleidoscope vision. I immediately stopped, turned my head back and closed my eyes...and my eyesight went back to normal. When I started to back up again, the same thing happened. I ended up in the hospital on a steroid drip. After a week of tests, and a bad reaction to the steroids, I lost my eyesight completely. I could see nothing but light and dark. The neurologist said I had a viral infection that settled in the base of my brain and that I would get my eyesight back in two weeks to two months. It actually took almost a year. I fired that neurologist. So, it was the issue with turning my head and losing the eyesight that got my attention in Dr. Damadian's Study. It was also that the CSF pressure went up in the upright position. I have always gotten relief from MS by sleeping or at least laying down when feeling challenged to walk or stand.

After speaking to Dr. Damadian last fall, he invited me back to New York to be part of his study. I was having issues with my eyesight for the first time since 1988 and was very concerned since I no longer got better. I also asked to include a friend who also has MS to come with me. Dr. Damadian gave me a thumbs up. The following is a summation of my experience:
Linda La Rowe

GraceMShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13572831939755580598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8010368813638032407.post-91251233922021296062013-01-14T10:56:06.176-05:002013-01-14T10:56:06.176-05:00It's time to take this leap forward. It's time to take this leap forward.steve shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10146195099447380030noreply@blogger.com
